from grandmother West's scrapbook Barry West Rites Held Sunday for Mrs. Gurley George Mrs. Gurley George, 78, of Leon, died at the Decatur county hospital Friday evening from pneumonia. Mrs. George was a charter member of the Leon Daughters of the American Revolution chapter and was a member of the O. E. S. for thirty-seven years. Besides her husband she leaves a son, Vaughn Smyth, third class petty officer in the navy stationed at the Great Lakes naval training station, Chicago, and a daughter, Miss Ruth George, Leon. Funeral services were held at the Stewart Funeral home at 2:30 p. m. with interment in the Leon cemetery and son arrived the day before her death.
