Barry, I remember the UNITED FOOD MARKET on the north side of the square very well as my father, Virgil Eckardt, worked for Olin & Pauline Ripey who managed the store from 1928 until he got his own store in Afton, IA on January 4, 1943, just a few weeks ahead of this add.     3. Could someone tell me what use to be on the north side of the square? (I know that Pamida and United Food Market was there, but what else was in there before the building was torn down) And does anyone have any pictures of the north side of the square before it was torn down?
