from grandmother West's scrapbook Barry West Leon Journal-Reporter Feb. 20 1947 Small Home Destroyed by Fire Tuesday Fire, which started when a three-burner oil stove exploded in the small one-room house of E. D. Crabtree in northeast Leon. Completely destroyed the building at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. All contents in the house including Mr. Crabtree's clothing, were burned. Mr. Crabtree escaped fr om the fast spreading blaze with only the clothing he was wearing. He lived in the house alone. The house was owned by Steve Short of Leon.
