Does anyone know what the SS. means. I have a photo copy of an Affidavit that is signed by my husband's grandfather in the presence of a Notary. Following is at the top of the photocopy of the Affidavit. STATE OF IOWA ) AFFIDAVIT ) SS. Decatur County ) I do not know if the above will stay lined up by the time this is received but if not the ) are supposed to be lined up perpendicular and the AFFIDAVIT on the far right side
