    3. If I remember right SS stands for something notarized it means Sworn & Subscribed. Sometimes I hear documents being read and they end by saying Signed & Sealed. I think the first one would be right for an Affidavit that was Sworn & Subscribed in front of a Notary. I have a photo copy of an Affidavit that is signed by my husband's grandfather in the presence of a Notary. Following is at the top of the photocopy of the Affidavit. STATE OF IOWA ) AFFIDAVIT ) SS. Decatur County ) I do not know if the above will stay lined up by the time this is received but if not the ) are supposed to be lined up perpendicular and the AFFIDAVIT on the far right side ==== IADECATU Mailing List ==== Stacey Dietiker, Momdit@aol.com: Decatur County List Administrator, Website Coordinator, Decatur County IA Genweb - http://www.rootsweb.com/~iadecatu ============================== Find your ancestors in the Birth, Marriage and Death Records.
