My Decatur Co. ancestors were: James Harvey Summers and his wife, Sarah Marian Hisey. James lived in Decatur Twp. since the 1850s and Sarah since the early 1860s. They moved to Kansas in 1878. Sarah's father, Alexander Hisey, and his family also lived here for a time. I am particularly interested in him. He was a blacksmith by trade. James served in the Civil War, first with the 5th Kansas Cav. and then the 48th Iowa infantry. A photograph of James in uniform turned up recently and was auctioned for $195.
