    2. The Transcription of the WPA Grave Records for Decatur County, Iowa for Surnames beginning with "T" "U" and "V" is now online. Only about 10 more pages to go and the entire Decatur County transcription will be complete. If any of you have had successful searches please feel free to share it with the rest of us. It's always encouraging to hear someone else's success stories! One tip I'd like to share: While I've been transcribing I've noticed many, many surnames that are misspelled. Be sure to search on the "Soundex" option and even then you might want to search under any other spelling options you can think of for your surname. One example I have just run across is the surname TRAUPEL. It is listed under the spelling TRAMPEL. Not exactly close. Also the surname TROWER is listed under TOWER. Some of the surnames TRULLINGER is listed under TRILLINGER. CHASTAIN was listed as CHASTINE. If you like, I can post a list of surnames that I'm sure are incorrect to the list. I'll wait to hear from you. If you ever have a question in your mind that something might not be all right to send to the Decatur County, Iowa mailing list then please feel free to send it to me personally first at _momdit@aol.com_ (mailto:momdit@aol.com) with an explanation and I'll be glad to look it over. While we are for the most part a pretty relaxed mailing list it never hurts to check first. RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE DECATUR COUNTY, IOWA MAILING LIST. 1. 3. I found some interesting information in the comments area of my great grandfather, although his first name was misspelled (Luther Francis Frazier - first name was spelled Lewlhen). My husband and I had walked Hamilton Cemetery looking for my great-great grandmother's (Lydia Fairbrother Frazer) grave as her obituary stated that is where she was buried, but there's isn't any other record showing that she is. Anyway... the comments area stated that 3 other graves on lot unmarked. I know that one was his wife and one his son and I believe there's a very good chance that the other was his mother-in-law. There's a stone there now, but she isn't listed on it. Two of my great-aunts are buried there also, but that was long after the WPA survey was done. Anyway, I feel it was a successful search!
