    1. [IADECATU] A BRUTAL ACT -- A WOMAN IS KNOCKED SENSELESS BY HER HUSBAND.

    3. Decatur County Journal Leon, Iowa Thursday, December 28, 1911 Mrs. WM. BRIGHT, who resides with her husband and family nearly opposite the school house, related to us an incident she witnessed a few days since which illustrates the utter brutality a man is capable of when influenced by passion and whiskey. Her attention was attracted by a man's loud talking and going to the window she saw a team passing in which was seated a man and woman, the latter carrying a child on her lap, and just as she reached the window, she was horrified to see the man draw back his clinched fist and strike the woman a powerful blow on the side of the head. The woman was knocked senseless and would have fallen from the seat to the ground had not the man caught and dragged her limp form back. The team had gone perhaps fifty yards before the woman seemed to have regained consciousness and began crying and screaming, and seeing Mrs. BRIGHT, who had rushed to the door to assist the woman in calling for help, grasp the reins from the man's hands and attempted to stop the team and throw herself out of the spring wagon. The man however, wrenched the lines from her hands and lashing the horses into a run drove rapidly northward, the woman still weeping and screaming. It was raining quite hard at the time and no others seemed to have been in sight or hearing. Mrs. BRIGHT did not know the people, but can give a good description of them. The man was probably under the influence of liquor but a man who is capable of committing such an act is a coward and a brute, drunk or sober. -- Lineville Tribune. ---------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert December 18, 2009 [email protected]
