He was born in Decatur County, Iowa, to JOHN W. And MARY BAKER. His mother died in 1898. EMORY was the eighth of nine children born of the home, four brothers and four sisters. His wife and two sons, ARTHUR and LAWRENCE, are still left with the aged father, brothers and sisters to mourn his departure The obituary notes written by an acquaintance, speak of him as always kind and honest in his dealings with his fellow man. For a long time he was a member of the Baptist Church at Bethel and an active worker. He was not in membership with any church of late years. Not long since in a conversation he claimed to be a Christian and from thence forward intended to lead a righteous life. During the last days on earth he remarked to his son he was ready to go. His remains were brought to Davis City, February 19th, and the funeral services were held in the old Bethel Baptist Church on the day following and interment was made in the burying ground at the church. A large congregation was present. Rev.
