The Journal Leon, Iowa May 22, 1883 Short communications are more acceptable to newspapers and their readers than long ones. A long winded correspondent is as much of a bore to the readers of the Journal as a long winded man is to those who are unfortunate enough to have to listen to him. Half a column is big space for a communication, and will contain all the news from any community that people want to hear. If an item is only for interest to the writer and two or three others, he should go around and read the manuscript to them and not inflict the innocent readers of a newspaper with it.
