We went thru the Sons of the Grand Army of the Republic which is active in Nebraska for my husband's gr-grandfather's stone. We provided copies of the discharge papers, and they did the rest. The town provided the concrete base and the government provided a military stone. Also, something that was neat-the Sons of the Grand Army of the Republic had a 30 minute dedication ceremony with Civil War uniforms, guns (21 gun salute), taped music, the laying of a wreath and knapsack. We had 40 direct descendents with families there and some of the people from town. It was very nice. This organization is in the process of placing stones on all the veterans of the Civil War, Union or Confederate, buried in Nebraska. Mary Booth
