    3. The Journal Leon, Iowa November 8, 1883 More rain, more mud. Dance at Mr. J.B. MORRISON's to-night. JOHN SHIELDS and MURRY JONES are working on the railroad. Miss SADIE SHIELDS has quit school at Leon and is teaching at the Campbell School House. JAMES TREANOR is feeding a car load of hogs. F.F. BEDIER has bought two car loads of yearling steers. BARNEY AKER is plastering his house. There was a farewell party at Mr. BOORD's last Friday evening. They had a pleasant time. Miss LIZZIE MARTIN spent Sunday with her brother in Kellerton. J.E. TEALE and wife were out on the creek walnuting Sunday. Farmers have not commenced gathering corn in this neighborhood yet on account of wet weather and soft corn. Rev. B.F. MILLER preached his farewell at Elk Chapel Sunday.
