An inquisition was holden at the dwelling house of G.W. ROBERTS in Hamilton Tp., in Decatur County, Iowa, on the night of the 13th of December, 1883, before A. Haskett, Justice of the Peace and acting Coroner, upon the dead body of a woman, there lying dead, by the jurors, whose names are herewith subscribed.  The jurors upon their oaths do say, after having heard the evidence and examined said body, we do find said person to have been the wife of G.W. ROBERTS; that she was about 29 years of age, that she came to her death by a leaden ball which entered her body about two inches above and two inches to the left of the umbilicas lodging beneath the integament, about four inches to the left of the spine.  There were slight bruises on the right eye lid and right side of the nose, evidently caused by falling. And we believe that said, ball was fired by her own hand from a pistol described as a "Red Jacket," caliber 32. In testimony whereof, the jurors have hereunto set their hands. H.C. Van Werden John P. Finley T.S. Arnold A. Haskett, Justice of the Peace, acting Coroner. -------------------------------------------------------------- *From another column in The Journal of the same date: Mrs. GEORGE ROBERTS, committed suicide  last Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock by shooting herself in the head with a revolver.  She leaves a husband and one child.  We expect the Journal will give all the points in the case verbatim this week.  She lived on the Dickison farm.  Her remains were taken to her parents', 10 miles southeast of Princeton, Mo. ------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert January 9, 2010 [email protected] www.iagenweb.org/decatur ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
