Mary Booth All soldiers serving in Iowa regiments during the Civil War are listed in "Iowa Soldiers in the War of the Rebellion," which was published in several volumes in 1910, and all Civil War vets living in Iowa post-war also were published in book form and without regard to the state they served from. I believe these rosters with regimental and company numbers are also now online for those without access to the original books. Rick, Merced, CA

    3. IAGenWeb has an extensive Civil War site for Iowa. There's a search engine on the site and the Regiment Rosters are listed on the site. http://iagenweb.org/civilwar/ For out of state Civil War soldiers, the two databases on ancestry.com are great and more helpful than the National Parks Service database at times. These two at ancestry.com are 'American Civil War Soldiers' and 'U.S. Civil War Soldiers profiles' along with the "U.S. Soldier Interment' database. Sharon R.
