    3. Anyone know who to contact in Mercer Co, Mo about land ownership and how to clean up an abandoned cemetery?  Yesterday my dad and I were going to the Eastin Cemetery about 2 miles south of Pleasanton.  The road back to the cemtery has fallen from a "B Maintained" Road to a farmer's field road.  It was not this bad just a few years ago.  :(    I'm sure Mercer County has written this off as an abandoned cemetery since the last buried would have been in the 30's or 40's, but we would like to try to clean it up as my great, great grandparents & ggg grandparents plus 5 of my great aunts/uncles are buried there.    We also looked for any remainders of the town of Saline, MO.  Nothing is there anymore along the paved road to Cainsville, MO.     Thanks in advance!   ~Tracie   TRACIE McBROOM Newton, IA    --- On Mon, 5/31/10, Stacy Smith <slsmith@grm.net> wrote: From: Stacy Smith <slsmith@grm.net> Subject: Re: [IADECATU] Off Topic? And if you look at census informatino, if you didn't know any better, you'd think they moved back and forth and back and forth from Iowa to Missouri...but the Iowa/Missouri line changed all the time back then and they really just stayed put. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharon Becker" <srbecker@iowatelecom.net> To: <IADECATU-L@rootsweb.com>; <iaringgo@rootsweb.com>; <iowa@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 30, 2010 12:45 PM Subject: [IADECATU] Off Topic? > While driving around yesterday, we slipped over the line > into Harrison County, Missouri, taking backroads and looking > things over. 3. Tracie, You might try Keith or Victor Seymour as to the land ownership - they own north and south of there and I think they would know, if they don't own it themselves. They are in the Mercer or Princeton or Cainsville phone book, not sure which one. You may be able to Google their phone numbers or use White Pages online. As to Saline, the remants are certainly still there. If you go south on Mercer Co. B highway out of Pleasanton, past the Freedom Cemetery (church used to be there but burned down) (P highway goes left/east there) there is another road about 3/4 to 1 mile south from there, should be marked as T highway, and turn right on that. Go past the old Center schoolhouse on the right, down the hill and the road turns left - you will be in Saline. There should still be several old buildings and houses along the road and up the hill to the east.
