I agree Donna -- I'm sure that's a record. :-) Now, to put it in perspective: Lance Armstrong, et al, left our little berg around 11:30 yesterday morning and they were in Sacramento by 3:30 -- 60+ miles away. No, I didn't go out and watch, (to busy with Family Dinner Sunday), but my daughter did. She took her camera and "captured",( in somewhat of a flurry), the rush of the lead riders. Go AmGen! According to my calculations, I am a 4th cousin 1 time removed to Wanda, and to Nancee. John "Fred" Crees is my 1st cousin 4 times removed. My great grandmother, Elvira Brooks Teter was a first cousin to Fred Crees. yeow, larry, if the cemetery get's.........uppity about it they can make you pay to have it installed.........haven't ever seen one of 'em do that, though. 'course i live in and did my va ombudsman's work in texas so, i s'pose this could make a difference.......sure hope not. the Iowa i knew would certainly not put up with something like that. Anyway, for those of you who are interested or know of a veterans burial place that needs a stone (or even if you don't and just want to memorialize one) your poc up there is one samantha schaff......she's something like an iowa veterans affairs outreach coordinator or something like that and, i believe, sit's in the leon community center, at least once a week. her ph# is 641 446 8208 and her edress is decctwa@grm.net ............................mac ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry McElwee" <mcelwee1942@cox.net> To: <iadecatu@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2010 8:29 PM Subject: Re: [IADECATU] LILLIE CEMETERY.. > Mac, You can even download the application for the grave marker on the > net. > There are several types of markers. I don't think Wendell knows that - he especially didn't when you were married to Ted and were all friends and socialized together. What a small world. Our Crees reunion we have in Decatur is just my first cousins (the grandchildren of Willis & Anna) and our families, but I'm sure if you would like to attend no one would object and you could meet some more relatives. Wendell and I are hosts at the next one in 2011. They are exactly the same age - Wendell's birthday is in March 1939 and Carl's is May 1939. You need to remind me how you are related to the Crees' - I know you have told me but have forgotten. Yes, we had a great family and a very close family. Our Grandmother Crees (Anna) just lived two houses down the street from Wendell and me growing up in Decatur so we always saw our cousins lots as everyone always gathered at Grandma's on Sunday's. We all have lots of fond memories and as you know we all get together every two years for a reunion at the community center in Decatur. >From time to time there have been rumors regarding the closure of the Brethern Church in Leon. I received the following e-mail from a friend in Leon last night who said the story was making the rounds again. "We may have solved the mystery - when driving past the Brethern Church this evening we noticed that there's an Iowa Realty For Sale sign on the corner by the church, if someone drove by and just glanced , they perhaps would not notice the arrow on the bottom of the sign that points east where a property several blocks down the street is actually for sale." I managed to get a few stones approved. Have to go to the grocery store but will come home and work on approving some more. Check out the stone for William Frost in the Shy Cemetery. I love it! What do you think it is? Hubby and daughter and I think it is a tree stump with a sign hanging on one branch. It looks like frayed ends of the rope at the bottom. Nancee what did you think of this one? Stacey

Nancee - Thank you. It's been a long two days. I was especially close to my Aunt Judy. I thought about you as I drove by your neck of the woods on 34 last evening and again this afternoon on my way back to Missouri. I've taken that trip often. I got an e-mail today supposedly from Cox.net telling me if I didn't update my acct. info I would be dropped. I was supposed to send the info to a woman on another network and the last line said if I didn't send the info we loose his/her account ( a 5 yr. old could tell its a scam) Cox rep said this is scam and they are working on getting it stopped.
