Good luck and God speed. "Alive" is a blessing. Adversary, such as what Katrina provides, just another speed bump in it. A BILLION ...................... The next time you hear a politician use the word "billion," casually, think about whether you want the politician spending your tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into perspective in one of its releases. *A billion seconds ago it was 1959 *A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive. *A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Ave *A billion days ago no-one walked on two feet on earth. and finally, *A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government spends it. Have a nice day. *note: I've had several e-mail messages not reach the intended recipient so have temporarily added a notice of receipt option to my outgoing mail. It's not really much of an imposition, the click of a key, and is actually a plus for those who can't answer right away but want to let me know they DID get my mail. Let me know if this is a problem for you. I have been on this list for several years now, and I really enjoy it. I spoke with my Aunt yesterday, and she told me that we are related to a Gale McClure who was sheriff of Leon, she thinks in the late 50's early 60's. Does anyone on this list have any info on Gale or any of his relatives? We are descendents of Amanda Alloway McClure from Indiana. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Linda Osburne Cassidy

I agree! Do away with FEMA, close it down! Let the New Orleanians rely on their own selves instead of Iowa taxpayers to haul their ashes. I have a photo clipping of this church that was published in the Leon Journal Reporter 23 Jul 1977. The original photo belonged to Mrs. Lafe Mitchell, and was submitted for publication by Winnie Evans (former teacher of Homer Fletcher). The church is constructed of hewn, chinked logs. Members of the congregation are posed in front of the church. Surnames listed are: Manchester, Stanford, Johnson, Warren, Smith, Mitchell, and McAlla. The church was located east of the former Fletcher farm, off of current-day R52 (Leon-Lineville road) (Eden Township). The church no longer exists, but the cemetery remains on the north and south sides of the country road leading to the former church site. The photo is not of high quality, but is scannable, if anyone wishes to have it forwarded. Carroll, Virginia

Hi List - I know that there is a map website where you can type in a location/feature and it shows the area. Does anyone know the name of this site? I'm trying to find Drury-Reynolds Cemetery in Rock Island Co., Illinois, but cannot locate it on any maps of the area. Thanks in advance! Lynnea Dickinson Davenport, IA
Ron's mother was Vondene Reynolds, and I was well acquainted with her brother, Lowell, who married Betty Daniels. They both graduated from Davis City High School and moved up here to Oskaloosa along in the 60's. My mother and Lowell's mother were first cousins. Expect the Reynolds family farm mentioned was just north of Davis City where Ron's grandfather, Thad Reynolds lived for many years. This is my 2 cents worth on this subject. from Irma O
