According to the WPA they are not buried in Decatur County. James Humphries born around 1808. Found last on the 1860 census of Decatur County. Lucinda Humphries born around 1810. Also last found on the 1860 census of Decatur County. Their son and his wife: James Humphries born 1848 and died 21 Jan 1890. Was a Civil War Veteran. Mary A. 1. Website Additions Today
    2. What a day! Two weeks ago I couldn't go to the library to transcribe any of the biographies from the 1915 History of Decatur County, Iowa because they were tearing up the carpet and putting down new carpet. Last week I couldn't go because my sister's notebook computer, which I use to transcribe with, had to go in for repairs. I finally made it there today. I transcribed for four hours, came home and I couldn't get any of the files to come up on my computer from the cd I had saved them to. I tried everything I knew to do for about an hour and then I called my computer whiz of a sister and took the cd to her and she managed to save all but one biography. I told her that I love her more today then I ever have before! LOL! Anyway, there are ten new biographies now on the 1915 History Biographies Page including: Andrew C. Brown John Clark Charles W. Dillon Charles F. Fierce E. W. Fierce J. M. Hollinger Warren J. Latta Henry W. Sparling Thomas A. Sutherlin John Thomas You can find them at this link: _www.rootsweb.com/~iadecatu/bioDocs/BIO1915.html_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~iadecatu/bioDocs/BIO1915.html) Hope those of you who requested one of these biographies find all of the information you were hoping for! 3. If I remember right SS stands for something notarized it means Sworn & Subscribed. Sometimes I hear documents being read and they end by saying Signed & Sealed. I think the first one would be right for an Affidavit that was Sworn & Subscribed in front of a Notary.
