I am looking for someone who has access to the 1870 Iowa Census index [NOT FTM - not worth the plastic its enscribed on]. Since Delores Davises E-Mail [she was a lookup volunteer in Jefferson County] bounces I can't find another source for that Census. Here's what I need. [My local library and Main Libraies in the State don't have those volumes.] Can you check to see if any Library has the Iowa Census Index for 1870. I am looking for two Families, GANDY and ST CLAIR. maybe spelled STCLAIR. My Great Grand Father Thomas Iles St Clair Died there 0n 4/25/1868 and is buried at the Jackson Cemetery, Salt Creek Twp, Davis County. Were not sure if the Families left there before 1870 and went on west to York County Nebraska [I'm checking there as well]. But if any of them appear on the 1870 Census w'ell know. Thomas had two Sons John Abraham and Thomas Jefferson. His three daughters were there as well Eva-Rachel's sister Thirza was married to William Harrison GANDY and Sarah to Samuel Ellis GANDY. If any one has the index and can check for me it will be greatly appreciated. Our Library in Milwaukee does not have that year. Thanks in Advance Bob Stevens
