I believe that the Rupes (also spelled "Roup" or "Roupe" in some records I've seen) were thicker on the ground in Wapello County than Davis. Although not directly related to that family, the paths of my MATHEWS, THAYER, HUDDLESTON and BOLANDER families crossed with those of the Rupes on more than one occasion, and I believe that they were neighbors in Ohio before coming to SE Iowa.
