If your family was in Iowa early enough, they could have been in Van Buren before part of it became Davis. I recently discovered that My ancestor, Elisha Burton, homesteaded before Davis County was created. So he lived in two counties and never moved! But now I have an idea why the homestead was not listed in Davis County records. So you might want to keep that in mind. -- "Look ...
