    2. Nancy I have no information about your ancestors, but you might write to the following address: Eldon Christian Church Eldon, IA 52554 I no longer know the name of the preacher or the secretary, but this address will get the letter to the church. I know they have a history written up and a list of the charter members. Maybe it will give you a little information about your John and Margaret. Good luck! Iowa. Their daughter was Martha Mowery who was born ca. 1861 in Davis CO. She died in October 1936 in Perry CO. Illinois. Martha was married twice: Elsworth Brown and David A. Stowers--she married him 1885 in Eldon, Iowa. Martha's Brown children were Flora (b. May 18, 1885 in Davis CO. d. Sept. 27, 1972 in Keosauqua, Iowa. husbands were Oscar Hootman and Henry McClure), Retta, Edd, and Clarence Elmer (b. July 21, 1882 d. Feb. 15, 1920. wife was Julia Zachaw). The Eldon, Iowa area was a place of early settlement as far as I can tell. In Martha's obituary it says that her father and mother (John and Margaret) helped to start the Christian Church there. Martha's Stowers children were William Albert (b. Oct. 24, 1887 d. May 14, 1907 in Carlin, NV), Mary Ruth (b. Oct. 5, 1893 in Piedmont, MO. d. Dec. 31, 1995 in Mascoutah, Illinois. her husbands were Cyrus Helvey, William Witte, Charlie Shepard, Aaron Emanuel, and Guy Batterson), and Mark ( died in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1970. wife was Pearl______). Martha and David Stowers spent years in the Lee CO. Iowa area. Thanks, Nancy Helvey >>
