In 1861, John joined the Civil War. After his return he married and then divorcedMary Jane Grider. Next he married Elizabeth Baker Wamock and had 2 more children: John Thurston b. Jan. 24, 1871 Bloomfield, IA m. Alice Louise Fodner, Elizabeth Theresa b. Jan 18, 1872, Bloomfield, IA. Richard M. DAVES b. abt 1806 MD and wife Almia b. abt 1810 PA. Children were: Adrial b. abt 1835 IL, Levi, b. abt 1837, Lucy b. March 7, 1840 MO, d. Sept. 26, 1897 Oelwein, Fayette Co., IA m. James William Shadle July 10, 1856 Bloomfield, Davis Co., IA, Julia A. b. abt 1849 Davis Co., Bloomfield, IA.
