    3. Phyllis, Have you written to the Davis Co Gen Soc. Box 94 Bloomfield IA 52537. They have a room in the basement of the Library. I think their dues are $10.00 a year and you can submit a pedigree chart and they print them in their newsletter. I rec'd an email from snevets@execpc.com. Do you know him? He has an Amos Gandy 1785 of Preston WV. Two Gandy brother's married two St Clair girls of Troy in 1865 & 1866. 3. Wanda, I forgot to ask you in my last reply.....I know that John (and Thomas) are listed as carpenters, however, I know that both were Methodist ministers. Do you have any suggestions as to how I might get information on them from this angle? 3. Wanda, Thank you very much for the information. Yes, this is my family. John Wesley Hunt's son, Levi Fletcher, was my ggrandfather. I am trying to establish a link between John Wesley & Thomas Addison Hunt. I am sure in my mind that they were brothers and that is the Thomas listed in John's household, but have not found any proof so far. Can you tell me how I might go about locating some document that would list the parents for John W. or Thomas A.? I did not know about Minnie Sloan (Thomas' daughter) that's great. Thank you so much! If you run across ANY information about this line, I would really be interested in what you find. Yes, it is really hot here (Little Rock) too. Has been around 100 for many days. 3. If your family was in Iowa early enough, they could have been in Van Buren before part of it became Davis. I recently discovered that My ancestor, Elisha Burton, homesteaded before Davis County was created. So he lived in two counties and never moved! But now I have an idea why the homestead was not listed in Davis County records. So you might want to keep that in mind. -- "Look ... 3. Jeanne - I agree with your thoughts about Thompson. I think that's one reason it caught my eye - Thomas Loyd's second wife was Selinda Thompson, marr. first to Jesse Frost, then widowed, remarried to Thomas Loyd. Then of course the Riley name was familiar because of Martha marrying a Riley. Kind of a double coincidence. And Selinda Thompson's family came from Shelby Co, IN as well. Lots of coincidences. I found the subscriber's name, a Loyd cousin who I have already had quite a bit of correspondence with, and continue to do so. Oh well, it was worth a try. I recently found 3 new Loyd cousins - all in the same week-end, so we've shared alot of information between us. No doubt the information on WFT CD3 was prior to our sharing. I have your Riley informations and names tucked into my Lloyd folder for future reference. 3. Hi Kay, Could your LOYD be LLOYD??? I found some strange coincidences in Family Tree Maker Vol. 3 Tree # 2812 almost all information coming from MONONA Co. Records. There are only 2 Rileys in the tree. One Benjamin Riley one whose 1st name is unknown , he married a MARTHA LLOYD. She was 1 of 12 children..Her parents were THOMAS LLOYD and Zelindia THOMPSON : County records, Cem. Records and Family records disagree on the name "ZELINDIA > SALINDA> SELINDA" (b) 3/30/1838 Ind. Monona Co. Rec. has Thomas Lloyd (b) 4/7/1813 in VA moved to Tenn., then in 1850 to Davis Co. Iowa and in 1853 to Appanoose Co. Died 9/14/1896 Ute Iowa. Remember, these are the parents of a Mr. Riley and Martha Lloyd. Seems many family members are buried in St. Clair Cem. This could be a source of much info. or nothing. It just caught my eye when almost all verification came from Monona Co. There are over 800 individuals named in this tree. Oh, by the way, this was Thomas Lloyds 2nd wife.... he also had 12 children by his 1st wife Elizabeth Morton... He sired **24 children** Boy do I hope this helps... so many people have been kind to me doing look-ups ... but if not, it was fun snoopin' around lookin' for STUFF. Let me know either way, okay? Jeanne PS There are 3 Thomas Lloyds in the tree 1 Beeson 2 Browns 1 Masterson and 1 Mc Cormack

    3. Jeanne - This most definitely helps. That is my family for sure. Selinda and Thomas were my ggrandparents, one of the daughters of Selinda was my grandma McCormick in Fremont Co, IA. Interesting, I have FTM vol 3, and thought I'd looked at all of these CDs for my family and never found them before. I'll check family tree 2812. Thanks for the information. The Loyd/LLoyd name is spelled both ways, depends on which of the 24 children one descends from. Interesting, huh? You'd think they'd all use the same spelling. On Selinda's name, I've found it Selinda, Zilinda, Zilindia, Celinda, you name it. She was illiterate, so it was up whoever to spell it how they wanted, I guess. Thank you very much. Now - any way I can help you?? At 03:52 PM 6/8/98 -0700, you wrote: >>>> <excerpt><smaller>Hi Kay, Could your LOYD be LLOYD??? 3. Hi Kay, I do know what Twp Thompson Riley and family lived, It was "Marion" maybe they were related to the Loyd family, if so the move to "MONONA Co." was in the right direction, I know that my great-grandparents lived in Bourbon Co. Kansas by the late 1800's. I'll keep an eye out for the Loyd family and if you should happen across the surnames names WELCH or REED in connection to Riley or Loyd I would be very interested Thanks for the response. Jeanne

    3. I'll certainly keep my eyes open for Welch or Reed with these families. I'd be very interested in how the families are connected, especially prior to living in Davis Co. I'm having a hard time finding Thomas M Loyd before Davis Co, IA. I know what a family story tells me, but can't find ANY records before 1850. Your Thompson Riley might be the clue I'm looking for. 3. I have a Benjamin Riley b. 13 May 1857, who married Martha Loyd in 1883 in Monona Co, IA. This is later than who you're looking for and in the wrong county. However, the Loyd family lived in Davis Co, IA in 1850. The way families moved from place to place together, it's possible the Riley and Loyd families knew each other in Davis Co, and some moved on up to Monona Co together about 1880. The Loyds were in Fox Twp in Davis Co in 1850. Do you know which towp your Riley was in? Don't know if this will help, but thought I'd throw it out, just in case. If you see a connection, please let me know. It might provide some clues to me on my Loyd line. NOT those of the same household etc. Any help truly appreciated, Jeanne </smaller> </excerpt><<<<<<<< Kay Masterson Researching: Baker, Barnes, Beeson, Brown, Boone, Chapman, Dement, Dodge, Jackson, Mendenhall, Mills, Sadler, Scholl, Talcott, Ball Gibbons, Kuhns, Loyd, McCormick, Thompson, Masterson. http://www.snowcrest.net/yreka/kay
