    1. Re: [IADAVIS-L] Re: JARVIS at Bloomfield
    2. Wanda, Hi! Just thought I'd drop you a note. I gave Betty the information you sent me and I think she was pretty happy getting it! Did I tell you I gave the wrong name of the cousin her mother used to write to (her mother passed away in '94, I believe)? I don't know where I went wrong, but I sure got confused! Betty's mother was 98 when she passed away, but to have written to the one I had down, I think she would have had to be closer to 150! It was a Mrs.Royce Christy. She did live in Huntington, KS, I believe she told me. Doesn't remember her first name. Does that name sound familiar? Well, I'm glad you have ties to Iowa. Most of the pioneer families are darn good people! (Wouldn't give too much for some of the imports, though.) Betty didn't say whether there was more she needed, unless you have something on Matthias House and/or his wife, Susan Floyd. They are supposed to be "Frankie" 's parents? I wonder if there is any proof of that? Francis/Frankie was Peter V. Jarvis' wife-have I got *that* straight?? It's kinda hard to try to help someone else with their research, I'm finding out! I get more respect for researchers every day!! Thanks so much for your help! Janis

    2. Wanda, Hi! Sorry to have been so long in thanking you for sending the Jarvis information. I have been pretty busy of late and seem to always be doing "catch up" with my mail! I told you wrong originally as to Betty's mother's cousin's name. I misunderstood. I had the straight of it written down-now I can't find it.... Thanks again! I will check with Betty and see if there are others she needs to locate. Janis

    3. No, I am from IL and now in TN for the past four years. I spent a LOT of time in Iowa, though. 4 branches of my family were original settlers of Davis Co. I also lived with my great-grandmother in Davis Co., IA until I was 2. Am very close to my Iowa kin. If I can look up anything else for you, please let me know. 3. The BARKER family from Virginia and/or Indiana moved to Davis Co., Iowa in the 1840's or 1850's. They had a daughter, Malissa, who became my g-grandmother. They may have moved to northern Missouri in the 1850's, but I haven't been able to place them there, although Malissa was working for a doctor in Cainsville (1860 census). I would appreciate any suggestions on how to try to find information about this family. Census records have not been helpful. Thanks to all. Margaret Udell Concord CA udell@pacbell.net
