Hello: I would like to invite you all to visit the newest project of the IAGenWeb: Orphan Train Riders to Iowa at http://iagenweb.org/iaorphans/ There were about 10,000 orphans, young adults and others who were 'placed out' in Iowa between 1853-1919 by various organizations in New York and other large, over populated cities. I don't think any Iowa county was untouched by this phenomena. Currently, we have online about 80 newspaper articles relating to orphans being placed with Iowa families and more to add. We have plans to add so much more information. I hope you will visit the site & share any information you may have regarding orphan trains and the children who came to Iowa.
