    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Johnson, Winterrowd, Pruett, Usher, Blalock, Farthing Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qk.2ADI/2039 Message Board Post: I am hoping to find information on Oliver's parents and siblings. With a name like George Johnson it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. In a article we have from the Des Moines Register dated Feb 8, 1919, Lieut. O.P. (Opie) Johnson was the first Des Moines Ace to return home. He was visiting his sister, Mrs. Ben Winterrowd at 3311 Rollins Ave. "Johnson has five boche planes to his credit. He was one of 100 Americans brigaded with the British, in the wing commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Bishop, premier British Ace. He's a former Drake University man and holds a "quarter mile" record at that institution." In Oliver's SSN application he lists his parents as George F. Johnson and Margaret Pruett. He was born Feb 5, 1895 in what appears to be Paragould, Arkansas. Other information we have indicates that it was his employer, Goodyear Tire and Rubber that had him transferred to Phoenix, Maricopa County, AZ to work as a manager of a cotton gin and cottonseed oil mill. He married Nelle (nee Usher) Blalock from Kentucky. She was the daughter of Leona Maria Farthing and William Allan Usher. Although I haven't found anything on how or where they met. If any of this sounds familiar feel free to email me directly. Thank you.
