Good Morning Everyone: I would like to thank you all for the wonderful emails you sent regarding the info that was lost on my computer. I'm sorry I could not answer each and every one. I have the Archives straightened out at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ usgenweb/ia/clinton/clinton.htm We have added bunches of census info. The 1880 abstracts are complete and we are starting name lists for 1900 and 1910, thanks to Alaine and Dick. I am also the coordinator for the Iowa State Census Project and I have a few things to add on that site. When I am finished there, I will be working full force on the Clinton site. The Clinton County Historical Society has had some wonderful additions, one being a new microfilm reader and microfilm. These include marriages, births and deaths for the early part of the 1900s. I hope to get some indexes online for these. They will also be getting the 1930 census on microfilm. Fran, our wonderful typist, has started to type up the 1929 Clinton city directory, to make finding some of the names on the 1930 census a bit easier. There is no printer for the microfilm reader, but you are more than welcome to stop by the museum and use the reader. They are open Sat., Sun., and Wed., from 1-4 pm or by appointment. The CCHS also has some wonderful programs coming up. There is no cost to stop by. The programs are usually on Sundays. On April 7, Gloria Wall will present a program called "Care and Feeding of Your Quilts", April 28 will be a program on Schleswig-Holstein Germany and on May 5 they will have a bridal gown display. These are just a few of the wonderful things they have in store for you. I hope you can find time to stop by. The gene library is also open during museum hours and is full of great items with new things being added all the time. Mike Lynch has taken some wonderful photos of Clinton's churches and a few other historic buildings. You can see them at http://photomail.photoworks.com/sharing/album.asp?Key=5732169455450401 I have recieved the most intriguing query -- can anyone fill us in on this? >I know you are very busy but wondered if you knew of a website that had >any info on the Italian POW camp that was located on the cliff above >Bluff bldv. The buildings were later taken over by the Isaac Walten >League and was refered to as Ike's Peak. >Thank you, Bob Fraser <A HREF="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</A> Also, does anyone have any pictures of the boathouse/clubhouse that was on the riverfront and was recently torn down? A couple from out of state were looking for one because her mother was married there and they would like to make a wedding album that would include a photo of the building. Well, that's about it for me. What new things 'n stuff do you have to share?
