Hi: I found your people on the 1880 census: De Witt, Clinton Co, IA, page 348B: Freeman Walters, age 41, farmer, by NY, parents b. NY Jane Walters, age 33, wife, b. PA, parents b. NY Florence C. Walters, age 18, son, Farm laborer, b. IL Marcellus Walters, age 13, son, at school, b. IL Estelle M. Walters, age 9, dau. at school, b. IA Bessie W. Walters, age 5, dau., b. IA. Glennie Walters, age 8 m., son, born IA It appears they came to Iowa between 1867 and 1871. They may have just crossed the Mississippi River as you probably know Clinton is on that river.
