    1. Census Cds
    2. Hello All -- I have gotten quite a few comments about our census project. It seems there is some concern about who would get the cds after I have finished transcribing them so -- what do you think of this idea? I will do the transcribing and put that info online. I will also provide copies of the transcriptions to the Public Library (which has all the census records on microfilm) and to the other gene and historical groups in Clinton. Then, when I am done transcribing the cds, I will just keep them and do further look-ups, should anyone need it (spelling, hard to read entries and that sort of thing) and also, hopefully, I will be able to send images of the pages to those researchers who would want them. The Clinton County Historical Society was the first group that came to my mind when I thought of who could benefit from the cds when I was done with them because they have been so helpful and contributed so much to our website. Fran at the Public Library has been wonderful also and is always there to answer any questions I have and to help in whatever way she can. Bonnie and Joy and the Gateway Gene Soc have been tireless in answering queries and doing look-ups. Ann and the Central Community Hist. Soc. have done so much work in Clinton County and have answered questions when I have them also. I hope to visit Ann soon and get to know her better. Members of the Friends of Clinton County History and the Clinton County Gene Chapter have been unfailing selfless in gathering and transcribing data and letting us use it online. It was not fair that I chose the Clinton County Historical Society to be the recipient of any census cds we, as a group, may choose to buy. I think it would be best if I kept the cds and donated the transcripts to the various Clinton gene and historical groups.
