Justina, I don't find the Balm family in 1860 Ia. or Mo. either but note on the 1870 in Sharon twp. that Hiram's son 6 y/o Charles is enumerated as born Mo. You might get a clue as to where in Mo. Charles was born from other sources. Ia. marriages on Ancestry indicate a union of Charles L. Balm to Nettie B. Stevens in Webster co. on 10 Mar. 1886. In 1920 Charles & Nattie Bell Balm are in Fort Dodge, Webster co. Same place in 1930 Nettie Balm is a widow. Dick May you live to be a hundred, with an extra year to repent!
