    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: GREENWALDT/GRONWALDT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qk.2ADI/2451 Message Board Post: We were out antiquing and I found a framed confirmation certificate. I did not purchase it, as the price was $25. However, I did write down what pertinent information I could read. Some of the writing was in German, but the event took place in the US. Esther M. GRONWALDT was confirmed in Smithtown, Iowa, December 27, 1914. I could not make out the name of the church. However, after doing some online research, it may have been St. John's German Reformed Church, in Smithtown, near Lost Nation and Wheatland, in Clinton County, Iowa. This church no longer exists. The pastor at the time was Johann GATERMANN, or at least that's what the surname appeared to be. I checked the census and found an Ester M. GREENWALDT, living with her family in South Fork, Jackson Co., Iowa. I was unable to find her in other census records. She may have died young or married. I found the certificate at The Bronze Giraffe Antique Mall in Normal, Illinois. The booth/vendor number is 49. I do not know the! name of the vendor. Perhaps this information will help someone.
