With regard to the wills that are kept in the attic of the courthouse. They no longer will copy them. But, I was there mid Oct, and the woman that helped me with them said it is ok to bring a camera and photo them. I didn't have my camera with me but I sure wish I had had it. I had 5 of them to look at, and thought I had written down all I needed but, a picture would have been better. I found out an ancester had a second cemetery plot he was maintaining in Chicago! As it turned out I now know where 6 ancestors are buried, just with one phone call to that cemetery. I have just started my own family site and I know what a job it can be. Especially when you are learning by the seat of your pants as I've done. www.charsbrokenbranches.com My Lake family is from Clinton. I started adding wills to the Clinton site long ago. Nettie made copies of them for me. I paid her, of course, for the copies and postage to send them to me and then I transcribed them. Seems that they have quite a bit of information in them. Also more Birth and marriage records would be helpful if there is away to get those. Ancestry has lots of newspapers online but I haven't seen any from Clinton. I'd be happy to help type them up if someone can get the info. I know that at least some of the wills are on tape at the LDS Research Center since that is where the ones I transcribed came from.
