John, The Frances Banta Waggoner library in De Witt has microfilms of the Observer. Keep in mind obits as we know them today did not exist back then except for more prominent citizens of the locale. Often it was just a one or two line item anywhere in the paper relating to the event. One or two publications after the death may have to be checked.
