My family has been trying to find the relatives of Johana Maria Fredricka Brandenburg who married Anton Francis Kreucher for many many many yrs. Please let me know what you know about the Brandenburgs. Did you hear of a sister named Johana? Tell me about Heinrich Stehr.. do you know what he did for a living? The reason I ask this is because our family folklore is that Marie .. or was her middle name Kate? or Katherine? that she was quite the character.. and used to stick out her tongue at people when they passed by. We also have been told that her husband may have been a policeman in Clinton. This was just folklore of course, and so it could very well be attributed to other people that the Brandenburgs knew. I have a picture on my web site of the Brandenburgs.. this would be Marie's parents. Johana is there too with Anton Kreucher, her husband. I am anxious to talk with you! Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qk.2ADI/2467 Message Board Post: Calista (Calesta?) CARPENTER was born in Moriah, Essex County, NY on Nov 19, 1816 she married Aug 3, 1835 probably in Moriah, Jonathan Wakefield b. Aug 21, 1810 in Hardwick, Caledonia County, VT he died Apr 5, 1864 in Le Claire, Iowa She was the daughter of Elijah CARPENTER b. Nov 8, 1787 in Clarendon, Rutland, VT and died in Le Claire, Iowa Sep 23, 1851 and Abigail "Nabby" Parsons b. Mar 9, 1794 in Chesterfield, Cheshire, NH died in Le Claire, Iowa Mar 16, 1871 both are believed to be buried in Fairview cemetery, Le Claire, IA. Calista (Calesta?) and Jonathan relocated to Le Claire, Iowa in approximately 1850 with daughter Amanda “Mindy”, Ray Greene, Elijah Carpenter, Mary Helen and Lester Fish Carpenter (Lester was born in Le Claire). In 1880 Calista (Calesta?) is living with her Daughter Mindy and her husband Josiah Chamberlain in Camanche, Iowa. Approximately 1885-87 she relocates to Le Grange, Fl with Mindy and her husband accompanied with her son Ray Green. She is included on a deed pre 1900 and she and Ray are listed on the 1900 census living with Mindy and Josiah (she is now 84 years of age). THIS is the last record I can find regarding Calista (Calesta?). 1901 Josiah dies and 1905 Mindy dies but there is no reference to Calista (Calesta?) in either of their obituaries. I have assumed that she has died after the 1900 census and prior to Josiah’s death. Does any one have any information on Calista (Calesta?), when did she die, where did she die etc. If it is in Florida I can find no record of her death and other than the deed and the one census report she is not shown to be in Florida.

The god-parents may have provided you a clue. But there is a possibility that the 1920 Davenport (Scott co) James McDevitt and the 1920 Wm. J. McDevitt (wife Margarite)in 1920 Center twp, Clinton co. are brothers. Both are about the same age and enumerated as born Pa. Might try following them back on the census to find a connection. Might try looking for William's obit in the Clinton newspapers. (Root Cellar at the Clinton library.) The Frances Banta Waggoner library in De Witt also has old films of the De Witt Observer but I think the year 1923 is missing. (verify that with them) But they do have the Charlotte Record from 1904-1924. Good luck in your quest. Dick

    1. [IACLINTO] Request for look up Marriage or Death
    2. Betty
    3. Could someone look up a marriage between a Sabrina(Salina) CARTER & unknown (perhaps Lewis) PATTIN, PATTEN? I am guessing the date would be about 1870, 1871, 1872. My gggrandparents had listed in the 1880 Iowa census (Maquoketa Township) a grandson last name PATTIN with no parents listed. I am assuming?? that the daughter married & both parents died. I checked in the neighboring county (Jackson) as they (CARTER's) lived close to the Jackson county border early on and found no record of marriage. Any help would be appreciated. Salina CARTER married name perhaps PATTIN may have died about 1879/1880?? Any assistance or ideas of searching would be appreciated. Thanks.
