With regard to the wills that are kept in the attic of the courthouse. They no longer will copy them. But, I was there mid Oct, and the woman that helped me with them said it is ok to bring a camera and photo them. I didn't have my camera with me but I sure wish I had had it. I had 5 of them to look at, and thought I had written down all I needed but, a picture would have been better. I found out an ancester had a second cemetery plot he was maintaining in Chicago! As it turned out I now know where 6 ancestors are buried, just with one phone call to that cemetery. I know that at least some of the wills are on tape at the LDS Research Center since that is where the ones I transcribed came from. Because of the increase in gas prices and the number of request I have taken I do have to charge a small fee per cemetery to cover my expenses. I use a digital hp photo smart camera with a 5.25 MP and 3x optical zoom. (6.0mm-18.0mm) and put the picture on a compact disc so you can transfer them with better quality than getting them sent to you over the internet. I will send you a CD with the entrance of the cemetery. Any pictures you request from that cemetery, usually single pictures and grouped pictures if there are more than one headstone in the family. Pictures of any others with the same like names that may be there. There is NO limit on pictures, along with a picture of the overall cemetery, depending on size of the cemetery this can be a few pictures. Normally there are 20 or more pictures of each cemetery depending on your request. E-Mail me and put "CEMETERY REQUEST" in the subject. Send it to ladycoldfingers@yahoo.com for more details.

Look how he writes his D's on the manifest, as in Davenport. Also the mark which could appear to be a crossed T appears in several places on the manifest. Whether it's a Denison or Dennison, can't say but also note that he does not include states with the city location so I don't think the (fa or Ia, or La,) have anything to do with it. Do the later Clinton co. census records you have Fred on indicate a circa imm. date? There is a publication "Immigration and Naturalization Records" authored by P. William Philby. It is a huge tome with several supplements. Larger genealogical research facilities probably have copies. Might try that as a source for hubby's grandfather. Happy Turkey. Dick

I have census records from 1860, 70, and 1880... by 1880 he and his family ended up in Clinton Iowa (1880 census.. misspelled as Borg... as well as his daughter Winnie... it is listed as Minnie). I would love to know what happened to his daughter, Augusta, his wife, Caroline (in 1900 census with daughter, Winnifred), son Frederick, and Winnifred. Barney moved to San Antonio. I know all about Barney. What I am really looking for is Boy, Augusta, Caroline, and Frederick. Any information would be greatly. I have the 1860 Census for Ottawa County, Ohio (where this family is listed). I also have the 1870 Census in Hamilton, Missouri (where this family is listed)... as well as the 1880 and 1900 (family listed in 1880 and wife and daughter listed in 1900). I think sometime between 1880 and 1900 Augusta, Boy, and Frederick died as they are not listed in the census. I don't know what happened to Winnifred after the 1900 census. Sincerely, Renae Bates

The newspaper article noted that he had lived in Germany and fought for Germany in WWI and came to the US circa 1923. He died 12 Jun 1960 in Clinton. He must have been a child of one of the sisters above, but I do not know which one. 4. Herman Henningsen, b. Oct. 1857, Pellworm. He immigrated in 1882 and was naturalized in 1892. Married Mary Hansen, b. 1868, Germany, on 22 Oct. 1887 in Clinton, IA. The family lived in Clinton and circa 1895 in Elk River; they moved to Maquoketa before 1907. Herman was a farmer. Any additional info on any of these families would be most welcome. Carl Ludvig Theodor Domann's wife's name was Phillipina Raguse, as noted in Paul Domann's marriage record in the Clinton County Recorder's office. Per son Walter's naturalization record, Carl and the children with whom he immigrated, Mary, Elizabeth and Walter, left Bremen, Germany on the ship S.S. Dresden, arriving at the port of Baltimore, Maryland in Oct. 1898. Carl was buried at Springdale Cemetery. Daughter: Maria/Mary Domann and husband Anton August Ohrt lived in Clinton and Camanche. Anton is found living in Lincoln with the children in the 1920 census. Mary and Anton were both buried at Springdale Cemetery. - Raymond Gustaf Ohrt and wife Mabel Anna Benson were both buried at Springdale Cemetery. Daughter: Emma Bertha Louise Domann and husband Martin Anton Henningsen were both buried in Springdale Cemetery. - Frank Carl Anton Henningsen and wife, Sylvia Regina Meyers, were both buried at Clinton Memorial Park. Frank served in the US Army as a private during WWI in the Motor Transport Corps in France and Italy. - Erna Louise P./D. Henningsen married Kenneth M. Cutler, 15 Oct. 1919 in Clinton. She lived most of her life in Camanche. - Arthur Anton Fredrick Henningsen's first wife's name was Vivian Nelson. His obituary says he had had two sons, both of whom died before him. Art served in the S.A.T.C. at the University of Iowa during the last months of WWI. Art was buried at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Daughter: Louisa Domann and husband August Carl Henningsen were buried at Springdale Cemetery. - Herbert Anton Henningsen's wife, Caroline C., died in 2005 at age 100 in Hennepin, Minnesota. Their son, Normand, b. 24 Feb 1923 in Clinton, died 22 Dec 1994 in Hennepin, Minnesota. Normand married and had at least four children, one of whom, John, b. 1955, died in 2001. - Leona M. Henningsen (and probably but not proved her husband, Robert 'Bob' Johnson) were buried at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Son: Gustave 'Gus' P. Otto Domann and wife Ceceila Christiansen were buried in Springdale Cemetery. Son: Paul A. Domann m. Mary/Marie Louise Andersen (daughter of a sister to Martin and August Henningsen, Friederike Henningsen Andersen) on 26 Apr 1902 in Clinton. He and Marie Louise 'Mary' were buried at Springdale Cemetery. Son: Walter Ernst/Ernest Domann's naturalization papers say that he was born in and left to come to America from Barvin or Barwin, Germany, a small village between Stettin and Danzig, now in Poland. This means that most likely, all the children in the family were born and grew up there. If anyone has more info on these people or their descendants, I would love to hear from you.
