Hi Nettie I feel if they are going to be donated to someplace it should be the Clinton Public Library. Where everyone has access to them. When people come from out of town they usually go to the Library first. Just my opinion Bonnie --- [email protected] wrote: > I would like to propose that we all join together to > purchase Clinton County > census records on cd. I would like to propose that we all join together to purchase Clinton County census records on cd. I would be more than willing to transcribe the data and put it online and will also do look-ups until the data is online. Once I am done with the transcriptions, we can donate the cds to the Clinton County Historical Society. I am asking that those of you who are interested send at least $1. I have put info online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaclinto/cenpro.htm or go to our website and click on Census Project. I am uploading now, so it may be 6 or 6:30 before the page is actually online. Hello Everyone: It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! And I am deleting the Clinton County Website!! Temporarily. I will be uploading the 'new' one very shortly. This may take awhile tho. It won't look too different from the old one and everything is pretty much where you found it last time. You may have problems with the Wheatland newspaper abstracts, but I am working on that. We have quite a few additions: Family outlines and surname registry additions; several email address changes (Let me know if I missed any) and we have even more census info. In a few days, I hope to be adding about 500 more names to the marriage index as JoAn has been very busy typing. If you have anything you would like to see added to the Clinton site, please let me know. Now that I have my son's mess Basically straightened out, changes should go much more quickly. I don't know if this will interest everyone, but I have coal mining ancestors and I think this would be a great stamp -- I would like to introduce to you our COALition for a Coal Miners Commemorative Postage Stamp. Our web site is located at: http://www.coalminerstamp.com We are attempting to gain approval from the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee for a commemorative postage stamp for coal miners. The men and women of this profession have endured many hardships for the well being and advancement of the United States. It was this group that fueled the Industrial Revolution and today fuels this nation with 57% of its electrical power. We would like to ask you to carry the above link to our web site on your site. On our web site is listing all those carrying our link. We would appreciate it very much if you would allow us to add your link to our growing list of supporters. We have an online petition that is linked from our web site and currently has over 10,600 signatures In addition, we have gained the support of elected officials in many states supporting this endeavor, which are listed on our web site. We have made much progress in the past year but must continue our endeavor until approval is given for this important commemorative postage stamp. May we count on your support by carrying our link? If you do not have a links section, possibly your society has a newsletter that you might be able to share our web site with your members. If you would provide us with a copy or the URL your newsletter appears on, we would be very happy to include it in our Other Features Section of our web site with your permission. Petitions can be printed from our site; possibly someone in your group would like to collect signatures. Any manner in which your society would like to help our endeavor would be greatly appreciated. In 1872, in Clinton Co. (probably DeWitt), my greatgrandfather, John Cavanaugh and his brother-in-law Peter Flannery signed a note for $1400 to the "Haywood Certificate of Honor". Does anyone know what this would mean, or what the "Haywood Certificate of Honor" is about ?? Thanks for any help. Cynthia [email protected]

It is a clear glass soda-pop type with the name: Arlen & Ingwersen Clinton Ia. Contents about 7 1/2 oz. I was just crusin'... trying to find some history and not having much luck! I hope you can inform or lead me to someone who can. It could be a gazillion years old or maybe it belongs in the recycle bin... I just don't know!
