My great-grandmother ( a Brocklesby)had two sisters who were also reared by families in the Low Moor area. My greatgrandmother married Samuel Crandall and had three children, two of which lived until adulthood, Eva and Sarah. Samuel Crandall's wife, my greatgrandmother died and the Whites then reared the two little girls. I have a picture of the Whites and the girls made in Low Moor, before 1890? I wonder if anyone else is investigating the Brocklesby Line or if anyone knows anything more about these people. Mr. White was the first Mayor of Low Moor.

    1. Things 'n Stuff
    2. Hello Everyone: It's been Military Madness here at headquarters -- I mean -- I have been putting lots of military info online this morning. It's uploading now. Check out the What's New page or go to the link for Military info. We have a list of 13 young men who died in Vietnam, we have more info on the Sustaining Wings and (drum role please) Vol. 2 of the Roster and Record of Iowa Soldiers in the War of the Rebellion is online on the Civil War page. I cannot thank Fran Barsema enough for typing this info up for us. If you would like to thank her, her email address is [email protected] I know she'd love to hear from you. She is starting Vol. 3 now. It sure doesn't take her long -- those are huge books, Vol. 2 was almost 1200 pages! When an article about the Sustaining Wings was photocopied, this article was with it. I think it is so neat, I had to share it with you. Bobby, if you're out there -- Happy (belated) Birthday!! This was in the Clinton Herald Feb. 22, 1946 Sixth Birthday of Bobby Larsen Marked With Party for Guests Bobby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Larsen, (address omitted), was six years old Monday, and in honor of the event he was host to eleven little boys and girls, who enjoyed a period of games followed by refreshments. Honors were won by Sammy Williams, Charles Nyquist, Betty Broadrick, Charles Horner and Wayne Turney. The celebrant received many gifts in honor of the occasion. Decorations of the table were in pink and green with a birthday cake and six lighted tapers as the central theme. And on that note, I will get back to work -- Take care all The More We Share, The More We Have To Share Nettie Mae <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaclinto/">Clinton County Iowa Gen Web</A> www.rootsweb.com/~iaclinto/ <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ia/clinton/clinton.htm">Clinton County, IAGenWeb Archives Table of Contents</A> http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ia/clinton/clinton.htm www.rootsweb.com/~iaphotos/ IA State Census Project www.iagenweb.org/census/

    3. On some records that I am researching in Holmes Co, Ohio, it mentions Harriet D. Reilly, b. abt 1819, Ohio, died Sept 26, 1854 in Toronto, Clinton Co, IA. Her infant daughter, Ann Melissa Reilly, b. 1854, died Oct 25, 1854 in Cedar Co, Iowa, but I cannot make out the name of the town. Is looks like Pedee, Pedie, or Pedic. I cannot find it on the map, and I assume it is or was not far from Toronto. Can anyone help with this? Harriet D. Robinett was married to Andrew Alexander Reilly in Stark Co, Ohio, and they moved to Iowa about 1852, with their 3 sons, Benjamin P., Joseph M., and James C. Reilly. 3. I am looking for a CASE family that lived in/around Clinton, Iowa in/around 1914. They may have owned/managed a lumber camp in that area around that time. The children's names may have been: Mayme, Madge, John, & Frank. These children appear to be in their 20's in the photo I have. If you know of this family or have info on the lumber business please contact me. I will gladly share a copy of the photo I have that appears to be a anniversary photo dated June 19, 1914. Unfortunately, the parent's names are only noted as "Ma & Pa". Thanks in advance...Julie Quick, Bay Port, Michigan...

    2. Good Morning Everyone -- The weather was so nice, no I feel like I am in a Winnie the Pooh 'Very Blustery Day' story! A good day to stay inside but I will be going to the Historical Society's Research Library. If anyone has any look-up requests, you can send them to me and I will try to get them done today. I will be leaving here before 12:30, so if you have a request send it by noon or it will have to wait until next time. Also, if you previously sent a request, it may have gotten deleted when my son did his magic trick, so it would be a good idea to resend your request if you haven't heard back from me. The people at the Historical Society would like you all to know -- There are only a few of volume one of the Once Upon A Time newspapers left and the Clinton Herald says, at this time, they will not be reprinting them. There is more info on the <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaclinto/history/onceuat.htm">Once Upon A Time</A> page on getting copies. And, we have added a picture of the Historical Society to their page and a neat picture to their Activities page along with some other changes. They will have wedding dresses on display for the months of May and April. There are some really neat ones. They have been working so hard on the Museum and have some other great displays up. If you live in Clinton and have any spare time, please consider stopping in and seeing what you can do to help. We have also added a look-up request form to the Historical Society pages. If there is something you need help with - visit the HS page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaclinto/cchs/cchs.htm For the people who have volunteered to transcribe stuff, I have more images online for you and you all should be hearing from me shortly. If you have an interest in helping get info online, visit http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaclinto/vols.htm and let me know if this is something you'd like to help with. If you haven't visited the Clinton County Message Boards at http://iagenweb.org/boards/clinton/queries/index.cgi you may be missing a valuable resource. If you haven't posted because you're not sure how or need some pointers, there is a good article at http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/columns/george/32.asp One last thing, I would like to have a page regarding Orphan Trains in Clinton County. If you have any info to share, I'd be glad to post it. If this is a subject that interests you, have you visited http://orphantrainriders.com/ ? There are some neat articles here. Can someone tell me where that cemetery is? 1. Census Cds
    2. Hello All -- I have gotten quite a few comments about our census project. It seems there is some concern about who would get the cds after I have finished transcribing them so -- what do you think of this idea? I will do the transcribing and put that info online. I will also provide copies of the transcriptions to the Public Library (which has all the census records on microfilm) and to the other gene and historical groups in Clinton. Then, when I am done transcribing the cds, I will just keep them and do further look-ups, should anyone need it (spelling, hard to read entries and that sort of thing) and also, hopefully, I will be able to send images of the pages to those researchers who would want them. The Clinton County Historical Society was the first group that came to my mind when I thought of who could benefit from the cds when I was done with them because they have been so helpful and contributed so much to our website. Fran at the Public Library has been wonderful also and is always there to answer any questions I have and to help in whatever way she can. Bonnie and Joy and the Gateway Gene Soc have been tireless in answering queries and doing look-ups. Ann and the Central Community Hist. Soc. have done so much work in Clinton County and have answered questions when I have them also. I hope to visit Ann soon and get to know her better. Members of the Friends of Clinton County History and the Clinton County Gene Chapter have been unfailing selfless in gathering and transcribing data and letting us use it online. It was not fair that I chose the Clinton County Historical Society to be the recipient of any census cds we, as a group, may choose to buy. I think it would be best if I kept the cds and donated the transcripts to the various Clinton gene and historical groups.
