Their father Francis Joseph Hill and mother Linda (Nelson) Hill died in the flu epidemic in @1918 in Chicago. Both Linda and Francis were from Clinton. Francis served in the Spanish American War and upon his return home he moved his family to Chicago. They were only there a couple of months when they both died leaving the boys alone until family could come from Clinton for them. Carl was raised by his maternal grandmother Mathilda Anderson Nelson in Clinton and Ken was raised by his paternal relatives (an aunt Kitty Hunt in Los Angeles). A baby daughter was born 2 days before the death of Linda in Chicago. We don't know what happened to her. Does anyone have any information on this family? Thank you for your help.

However, I have recorded a marriage date of January 11, 1894 for John Knabel and Christina Riedesel. My source for that exact date is buried, but this marriage is recorded in the Clinton County records as well. The marriage license was issued in 1894, and describes him as being 24 and her 28. I hope this helps. Paul Riedesel www.riedesel.org

I've attempted to keep my eyes open for them. Unfortunately, none of them have shown up in my searches. I'm a decendent of Edward J & Katherine (Acker) Holle through Wm A., Wm C., & Wm C. In researching Edward's nine children and William A's seven I have not come upon your Holles. My search goes on and if I should chance upon your branch of the tree I'll make sure I let you know. Best of luck in your continuing effort. Jeff Holle

I haven't been to Lost Nation since Darrell died in 1986. Any information you could provide about her line would be greatly appreciated.
