He was always looking on Simeon of the Old. From the lips of this departed borther fell so often the confession, the hymn of praise of Simeon. "Lord, now letteth Thou Thy servant depart in peace, according to Thy word, For mine eyes have seen Thy salvation, which Thou hast prepared before the face of all people. A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of Thy people of Israel." It was John Breitsprecher. John Frederick William Breitsprecher was born in Priemen, Pommerania Germany, on April 12th, 1844. At the age of fourteen years the deceased brother stood before the confirmation altar. Many years he worked hard for his aged parents to make their many burdens of their age light. He was undoubtedly an obedient son of his dear parents. In 1871 the departed brother came to this country of his choice. He married Frederika Breitsprecher, nee Radloff. This union was blessed with seven children. Five preceeded the parents in death. In 1894 he moved on a farm in Floyd county, Iowa, but in 1896 he returned again to his favorite place, Clayton Center. His wife died October 18, 1919. His brother Fred's mortal remains were buried last year nearly at the same time. Our departed brother leaves to mourn his two beloved sons, Fred Breitsprecher of Chicago, Ill., and Albert at Clayton Center, his brother Henry Breitsprecher Sr., Clayton Center and six grandchildren, many relatives good friends.
