R.H. Steege officiating. Burial was in the Farmersburg-Wagner cemetery. Mr. Strein died Friday afternoon, August 8, at 2:15 o'clock, having been in ill health since spring. As Alvina, she was born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Radloff in Wegesien, Germany, July 20, 1869. When she was 12 years old, she came with her parents to America, settleing with them near Clayton Center. Later she moved with her parents to Nebraska. She was married to Charles Strein, September 16, 1887, at Gothenberg, Nebraska. They lived for several years in Nebraska and then came to Clayton County to live on a farm. Twenty-nine years ago they retired and moved to Farmersburg. For the last 11 years, Mr. and Mrs. James Probert lived with them. In 1937, they observed their golden wedding anniversary. She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid of St. John's Lutheran church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughers, Mrs. Eldo (Lana) Kurdelmeier of Postville, Mrs. Louis (Minnie) Kurdelmeier of Littlefork, Minn., Mrs. Louis (Alice) Breitsprecher of St. Olaf, and Mrs. James (Marie) Probert; three sons, Fred of Monona, Herb of Farmersburg, Fred of Prarie du Chien; two sisters, Mrs. Mathilda Heins and Mrs. Bertha Ihde; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alvina, who died when 4 years old, a son, who died in infancy, and by three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers were: Kenneth, Harold and Lloyd Breitsprecher, Delbert Jenkins, Curtis Mueller, and Adolph Koopman.
