Hi, Hope someone can help me sort out a puzzel. My Great Grandfather's nephew, Daniel Latimer Spencer born 26 August 1889, LaFayette Twp., Story county, IA is presenting us researching the Spencer and related families a puzzle. Daniel Latimer Spencer is son of William Carlin and Hattie K. (Williamson) Spencer. 1910 has Daniel L Spencer in Iowa, Hamilton, Marion Twp. and he is Boarder 20 and Single. By 1920 Daniel is enumerated twice. There is a wife, Hazel who has been determined by the census entry to be born a Frisbie. Her parents Jack and Nettie UNKNOWN Frisbie. Hope someone can enlighten us on Nettie's maiden name? Sign of a first wife for Daniel, Divorce from Hazel or her death. Any information on the people mentioned. 1920 Iowa, Clay Co., Spencer township Spencer Dan Head m w 30 M Iowa United States Norway Linotype? MN, father born Iowa, mother b. Unknown. It is suspect that Daniel's been married prior to the marriage to Hazel Frisbie and that the UNKNOWN wife has died. It isn't know if Hazel dies (as Daniel marries again at some point in MN) or if they divorce. Looking for that or any information. This same first born daughter of Daniel Spencer is enumerated with her Paternal Grandparents WC & Hattie (Williamson) Spencer in 1930 Census in Story City as Ellen E. age 14 b. MN and mother and father are said born Iowa. By 1930, Hazel is with her parents with the second born daughter of Daniel Spencer, and Hazel's info say married 22, so Hazel and Daniel going by that are married 1918/1919 but Daniel Spencer is in MN. 1930 Iowa, O'Brien, Floyd 710 230 267 Frisbie Jack B Head m w 54 m 20 Iowa, father New York, mother Ohio, State Inspector p?i?? To make me wonder about Daniel being married three times his WW I Draft card from June of 1917 states that he has a wife and child and that the wife is sick with Tuberculosis. Daniel's obituary lists among others as surviving him, wife Joyce. So that makes Daniel suspect to having been married x 3. Obviously Hazel is mother to Jean. Jean later married a Bergan, Clarence. I don't see how Hazel can be the mother of the first born daughter. Either Hazel and Daniel have divorced or Hazel dies since Daniel's wife is Joyce in his 1961 obituary. Wondering if anyone relates or if someone might have access to records for these counties to see if Daniel L. Spencer married there or if there might be records on any of these people there? Maybe there's someone related here that can fill in some of these blanks? Thanks and regards, Barb Drummer
