My tie to them is via August Engelhardt who married my g-grandfather's sister Ida Groth about 1898. August was son of William & Louisa Engelhardt (he born Prussia ca1846 and she born Mecklenburg ca1850, according to the 1880 census). I have reason to believe that Louisa was nee Groth. William Engelhardt's father was John. John was b. Dec. 20, 1818, in Germany, m. Maria Schmidt in Germany in 1840. John and Maria Engelhardt and family came to America in 1862 and settled on a farm near Garnavillo. They had seven children: William, Rudolph, Charles, Henry, Augusta, Bertha, and Minnie all of whom were born in Auklan Pommen, Germany.
