In Loving Memory Irene Violet (Shepperd) Hofer, 87, of Clermont, Ia, died Monday, September 13, 1999, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Ia. She was the oldest born to Alva and Alvina (Kamaus) Shepperd on January 15, 1912 in rural Clayton Co., Ia. She was baptized in the Monona Evangelic Church, and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. She attended School at Luana, and Clermont High School. Irene was united in marriage to Richard Leroy Hofer on December 2 1933 at the Evangelical Church parsonage in Elkader. They farmed near Farmersburg for eight years, and South of Elgin for nineteen years. They moved to Clermont in 1961. Irene worked in food service for the Clermont Elgin and Wadena School District. She and her husband were members of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, East Clermont Lutheran, and then Elgin Lutheran where she is presently a member. Irene like to travel, sew. Survivors include her half-sisters, Virginia John, Vivian Cox, Verda Jean Shirley, all of Washington State; Rose-Gilbert and Lois Mower of Kalispell, Montana, and Jessie Bronson, Condon Montana; sisters-in-law, Eileen Dupont and Ja___Hofer, a brother in law, Art Hofer; a number of nieces and nephews; and twelve Godchidren. She was preceeded in death by her husband in 1974; her parents; her sisters, Florence Clynch and Cora Pisney.
