Hinkel 82 of Marquette, Iowa, died Thursday September 1, 2005, at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis., following a short illness. A Military Service was held Saturday, September 3, at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor, Iowa. Richard is survived by his wife Kathryn of Marquette; two sons, Bruce Hinkel and Lee (Kymm) Hinkel, both of Waukon, Iowa; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five siblings, John (Ruth) Hinkel of Waterloo, Iowa, Alo (Leonard) Church of Albert Lea, Minn., Bernadine (Ronnie) Ginter of Batavia, N. Y., Betty (Robert) Pries of Waterloo, Iowa, and Bob Hinkel of Marquette. Richard was born March 15, 1923, in Wadena, Iowa, to Oscar and Mae (Voshell) Hinkel. He served in the Navy during World War II. Following his discharge he worked as a switchman for the Milwaukee Railroad for 33 years. He married Kathryn Tayek on January 25, 1946, at St. Mary’s Church in McGregor. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
