Reply to the message or author by clicking on the link below. *************************************************************************** MESSAGE: (#144684) Alfred Vernon "Billie" Hansel <http://iagenweb.org/boards/clayton/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=144684> AUTHOR: Judy Holthaus DATE: 2/9/2007 at 15:36:31 Surnames: HANSEL,PHELAN Alfred Vernon (Billie) Hansel 59, of Elkport was dead on arrival at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital at 5:30 a.m. Thursday April 27, 1978 of an apparent heart attack. Services were held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Garber, Ia. at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and were conducted by Rev. Albert Carman. Burial was in the Hansel Cemetery near Garber. Pallbearers were: Gilbert Hansel, Eugene Hansel, Robert Phelan, Lee Hansel, Allan Connelly and Bruce Mallory. The Scripture wake service was held at the Tuecke Funeral Home in Guttenberg Friday evening. Mr. Hansel was born near Garber May 5, 1918, a son of Realto and Katie "Feidt" Hansel. He was married June 12, 1941 at Garber to Mary Corrine Phelan, who survives. He was employed at Trademark Homes Inc. Guttenberg, Ia. as a welder for the past 14 years. Surviving besides his wife are seven sons, Realto of Garber, Eldon of Edgewood, Dwight, Michael, Jeffrey, Scott, and John, all of Elkport, and a daughter, Ann Marlene Hansel of Elkport; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha O'Connor of Elkader, Mrs. Dale (Naomi) Garlow of Colesburg, Mrs. Lucille Hansel, Mrs. Bob (Elsie) Mallory, and Mrs. Marcus (Eunice) Connelly, all of Garber.
