Thurn, 46 of Edgewood died Wednesday night, April 29, at his home. Services were held May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Appleton Vernon funeral home in Edgewood with Rev. Albert Neufeld officiating. Burial was made in the Union cemetery, rural Littleport. He was born in Clayton county Jan 13, 1935, the son of William J. and Hattie (Beyer) Thurn. He received his education in the Edgewood public school, graduating in 1953: he served in the U.S. army, (note it was smudged and couldnt read one short sentence) November 17, 1978 he was married to Mary D. (Alexander) Strief at Delhi. Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Edgewood; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (April) Enderton of Des Moines, Julie (Thurn) Dryer of Chicago, IL, and Linda Thurn of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Frank & Anthony Thurn of Cedar Rapids, and five grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.
