Kluth Mrs. Wm. Kluth passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gustav Sabbann, at Elkader, Iowa, Sunday, Dec. 30th, 1928, at the age of 69 years four months and twenty five days. Deceased, Mary Celeste, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moine, was born in Fayette county, Ia., August 15th, 1859. In early childhood, she came with her parents to Clayton county, residing a few miles north of Elkader on the McGregor road. On October 14th, 1878, she was married to Wm. Kluth, in Farmersberg township. Nine children were born to this union, of which two died in infancy and three others also preceded their mother in death: Mary at the age of thirteen, John when fifteen years old, and LeRoy, who attained the age of eleven years old. For some time deceased lived in St. Olaf, until about five years ago, when she came to Elkader, to make her home with her daughter, Minnie and family, where she received the best of care. Although ailing more or less of late, she was able to be about most of the time. Sunday morning, about three oclock, she was suddenly taken seriously ill with Angina Pectoris (spasms of the chest). A doctor was summoned at once, but all efforts to revive the patient were in vain; four hours later she closed her eyes in the last sleep. She is survived by four children: Mrs. John (Jennie) Hook, of Elkader; George Kluth of McGregor; Mrs. Gustav Sabbann, of Elkader, where deceased made her home, and Joseph Kluth, near Osbourne. She also leaves six grandchildren: Mrs. Albert (Hook) Hass; Floyd Hook, Rosalyn and Dolores Sabbann, Roy and Orvil Kluth and one great-grandchild, Duana Hass, and one sister, Mrs. Georgina McKellar, of spokane, Wash. Funeral services were held at the home of G.A. Sabbann and in the Evangelical church and interment was made in the Farmersberg cemetery, with Rev. C. H. Franke officiating.
