Rev. Ellen Taube officiated the service with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Floy, Jim Langhus, John Kruse, Terry Winger, Kevin Morarend and Loren Ruhser. Eldo Fredrick Wilke, son of August and Minnie (Lahrs) Wilke, was born June 17, 1906, on the home farm near Elkader. He grew up and was educated in the area attending rural schools. He was baptized June 19, 1906, and confirmed March 22, 1920, both at Zion Lutheran Church where he has been a lifetime member. On February 28, 1933, he was united in marriage to Marie Staack at Zion Lutheran Church. Six children were born to this union. He farmed the home place until March of 1979 when they moved into Elkader. For the past two months he had been hospitalized. He died at Central Community Hospital in Elkader, May 4, 1992. He was a Farm Bureau member for many years, served on the Boardman School Board, Zion Lutheran Church Council, and church cemetery committee. Survivors include his wife Marie; two sons, Eldean and Paul of Elkader; three daughters, Marlene (Mrs. Dale) Chesnut of Farmersburg, Carol (Mrs. Irvin) Kruse of St. Olaf, and Cynthia (Mrs. Loren) Beck of Dixon, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel Ruhser of Elkader. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Patty in 1944; a granddaughter Melissa Kruse in 1985; and Lucille Kruse who was raised by his family.
