Reimer Funeral services for Marie D. Reimer, 80, Garnavillo, were held Thursday, July 29, 1999 at St. Peter Lutheran church, Garnavillo, with burial in Garnavillo City Cemetery. Pastor Gary Hatcher officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Shannon Dinan, Carmen Folluo, Tabatha Miller, Chuck Reimer, Johanna Reimer, Martin Reimer, Matthew Reimer, Missy Reimer, Rodney Reimer, Thomas Reimer, Joshua Schoulte, Amy Sheppard, Paula Thornton, Mike Wiethorn, and Richard Wiethorn. Pallbearers were Aaron Dinan, Nick Miller, Andy Reimer, Jason Reimer, Jennifer Reimer, Molly Reimer, Joleen Schoulte and Daniel Wiethorn. Arrangements were by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home. Marie D. Reimer, was born March 13, 1919 on the family farm near St. Olaf, Iowa, daughter of Louis and Elta (Kalke) Eberhardt. Marie was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center, attended Equity Country School and graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1936. On November 25, 1937, she was united in marriage with Haldon Charles Reimer at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center. She was a homemaker and farmed with her family for many years. She was an active member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, teaching Sunday School for many years. Later Marie and Haldon joined the St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was active in quilting and Ladies Aid groups. She enjoyed bowling, golf and many card games, especially bridge. She died Tuesday July 27, 1999, at the Priarie du Chein Memorial Hospital in Wisconsin after a long illness with cancer. Survivors include four daughters, Faye (Bill) Wiethorn, Monona, Susie (Jim) Dinan, Edgewood, Linda (Chris) Schoulte, Farmersburg, and Donna (Dan) Miller, Monona, four sons, Ronnie (Mary) Reimer, Garnavillo, Kenny (Alice) Reimer, Elkader, Douglas (Kathy) Reimer, Garnavillo, and Mike Reimer, Harpers Ferry, 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one brother, LaVern Eberhardt, one sister, Anna Mae Kramer, both of Elkader. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Haldon, one son, Loren, one granddaughter, Sandra Wiethorn, one sister, Florence Fette, and two brothers, LeRoy and Floyd Eberhardt. Special thanks to the Hospice and Nursing Staffs at the Prairie du Chein Memorial Hospital and Pastor Gary Hatcher for his many visits to Mom and being a very special friend to her.
